VaemonGuy,

  I have a server, ASUS P9X79, 3930k, 64gb DDR3-1600, 2x256GB OCZ Vector (RAID 0, 1000MB/s), 4x2TB WD RE-4 (RAID 10, 400MB/s), Radeon HD7850 2GB that i built to host 10 Windows 7 x64 VMs.

Everything was working well for a while, but i'm it seems that the host and guests are stuttering/freezing now.

Since you have a similar system, and run "several" vms, i was wondering if you've seen this behavior before, and if you know of any possible fixes?

Things run decently, with what seems like a .5 second delay when i have 8-9 vms on, and when i start the 10th, it freezes up. If i force kill the vmx process for the VM, performance resumes.

Weird thing is that i've previously stress tested (intel burnin, hyper pi) all 10 vms at once without any issue.

Edit: ---------

Host is Windows 7 Pro x64, VMware Workstation 8

--------

-Page file disabled.

-priority.ungrabbed set to high.

Things i've tried (on all VMs):

-setting CPU affinity to all cores except first two (so the host has 2 cores to work with)
-setting to use only one core

-disabling independent/persistent HDD

Should i try disabling VT-d?

I welcome any advice you or any other member may have.

Thanks!
