Sorry...please disregard. My troubleshooting adventure started when the guy I passed the W2k8 R2 VMs to said that he couldn't "ping" the other server's private n/w connection (2nd NIC). I should've realized right then and there that the Windows firewall was on by default where, naturally, the other server wouldn't have responded to any pings. Oftentimes we make things harder than it really is and fail to catch the obvious. I feel really dumb right now for not figuring this out sooner but I don't care because it's Friday!
