The problem with making statements like this is it's erroneous! Not all OSes or versions of some OSes do well in a Virtual Machine and this of course it dependent on not only on the Host but version of VMware Product and version of Guest OS. Guest OSes are both supported and unsupported and while unsupported doesn't necessarily mean they can't be installed nonetheless there usually are issues with unsupported versions of both supported or unsupported OSes.
