Yesterday I installed ESXi on new server HP Proliant DL385 G6. The server is in a remote datacenter. I finished installing the server and configured 2 nics for management network and connected to the esxi hosts directly using VI-Client. Everything is fine till now. There is no Storage or VM or vmotion configured.

As soon as I joined the host to vCenter, It went into disconnected state (Not responding) and alarm came saying "Host Connection Failure".

I checked the storage link and the local disk of the server was greyed out.

I can ping the host from my PC.

I can ping the host from vCenter server.

If I right click on the host and click connect, it connects but after a minute or 2, goes back into disconnected state.

This does confirm that the error is not related to storage as was pointed out by few people. It has do with with management Network only.

I have a meeting with VMware tech support on monday morning regarding this host. Let us see what they have to say. The case is open with them sice 2 and half months with no resolution. Earlier VMware said that the problem is because of HP hardware. Now they are saying it is because of our network. Let me see what they say regarding this new host.

Thanks,

AG.
